Secret RF

How it works

Secret RF, made by ILOODA, is a fractional radiofrequency system with microneedles. The needles puncture the skin to a set depth, and radiofrequency energy released at the tip heats a small zone in the dermis. This causes controlled thermal injury that is intended to stimulate new collagen over the following weeks and months. The device has been distributed by Cutera in some markets.

Good to know

• The catalog lists it as microneedle fractional RF.
• Treatment targets include acne scars, pores, fine lines and skin texture.
• Needle depth, pulse and energy are chosen by the operator.
• Pinpoint redness and mild swelling are expected for a few days; response varies by person.

Where Secret RF sits among similar devices

Secret RF belongs to a group of devices that look similar on paper. Distinguishing them comes down to tip type, whether the needles are insulated, and the range of depths available. For a reader choosing between categories, it matters more that it is microneedle RF than which unit of that type is used.

Compared with surface lasers, microneedle RF leaves the epidermis largely intact, which is why it is often considered when a shorter recovery matters. Compared with plain microneedling, the heat component adds a different remodeling signal. Neither approach suits every scar, and deep icepick scars may call for a more targeted method.
