Excel V
Excel V combines 532 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths, which makes it a flexible choice when redness involves both surface and deeper vessels.
How it works
Excel V, made by Cutera, is a vascular laser using 532 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths. Blood absorbs both, and the pulses heat small vessels so they close and are gradually absorbed by the body. The shorter 532 nm light acts on shallow, fine vessels and red marks, while the longer 1064 nm light reaches deeper vessels. Cooling at the surface helps protect the skin.
Good to know
- The catalog lists it as a vascular laser at 532 nm and 1064 nm.
- Two wavelengths allow treatment of fine surface redness and deeper blue-red vessels.
- It is used for facial redness, visible vessels and related concerns.
- Temporary redness, swelling or bruising can occur; results vary by person.
Where Excel V sits among similar devices
Excel V is distinguished by having two wavelengths on one device. Facial redness is not one problem: fine surface vessels, a diffuse flush and deeper bluish veins respond to different light. A dual-wavelength laser allows the same session to address more than one of these.
Compared with Vbeam, a pulsed dye laser at 595 nm, it offers less of the dye laser's traditional gentleness on the surface but more reach to deeper vessels. Compared with IPL, a laser targets blood vessels with a precise wavelength rather than broad light. Rosacea is a chronic condition, so these treatments reduce visible redness without removing the tendency.
Excel V: common questions
What kind of redness does it treat?
Visible small vessels and certain types of persistent facial redness.
Will redness come back?
It can, especially with rosacea, since the underlying tendency remains.
Does it cause bruising?
Some settings can; others cause only temporary redness.
